Many of our guests come to experience the NC 500 (North Coast 500) and some will pop onto the Black Isle , on their way to or from Inverness, without stopping to bask it the glory of this wonderful place.
So today we wanted to show you just how much there is to see there, and that you could spend a whole week exploring its delights.
7-Day Black Isle Adventure
Day 1: Alness to Black Isle Arrival
Collect your campervan in Alness and stock up on groceries at a local supermarket, there happens to be 2 literally at the end of our drive
Afternoon: Drive to the Black Isle, and once you arrive, settle into your campervan accommodation at Rosemarkie or Fortrose Bay
Evening: Enjoy dinner at a nearby restaurant, like the Allangrange Arms, offering traditional Scottish cuisine.
Day 2: Exploring Cromarty
Morning: Head to the charming coastal town of Cromarty. Explore the historic streets, visit the Cromarty Courthouse Museum, and enjoy coffee at the Cromarty Bakery.
Afternoon: Take a walk to Cromarty Lighthouse for stunning views over the Moray Firth.
Evening: Dine at the Sutor Creek Café, known for its seafood and wood-fired pizzas.
Day 3: Dolphin Watching and Fortrose
Morning: Join a dolphin-watching tour from Avoch to spot bottlenose dolphins in their natural habitat.
Afternoon: Visit the ruins of Fortrose Cathedral and take a stroll along Rosemarkie Beach.
Evening: Have dinner at the Anderson in Fortrose, famous for its locally sourced seafood.
Day 4: Fairy Glen and Black Isle Brewery
Morning: Drive to the Fairy Glen in Rosemarkie, a mystical woodland area perfect for a peaceful walk.
Afternoon: Tour the Black Isle Brewery in Munlochy. Sample some of their craft beers and enjoy a picnic lunch.
Evening: Head back to your campervan, cook dinner, and relax by the campfire.
Day 5: Inverness Day Trip
Morning: Drive to Inverness for a day of exploration. Visit Inverness Castle and take a walk along the scenic River Ness.
Lunch: Enjoy lunch at a local eatery like the Kitchen Brasserie.
Afternoon: Explore the Inverness Botanic Gardens and Culloden Battlefield.
Evening: Return to the Black Isle and dine at the Red Poppy Restaurant in Strathpeffer.
Day 6: Rosemarkie to Chanonry Point
Morning: Visit Groam House Museum in Rosemarkie, showcasing Pictish stones and artifacts.
Afternoon: Drive to Chanonry Point, renowned for its dolphin-watching opportunities. Spend some time by the shore.
Evening: Return to Cromarty for dinner at The Royal Hotel's bistro.
Day 7: Avoch and Departure
Morning: Explore the picturesque fishing village of Avoch. Visit the Museum of Childhood and walk along the harbor.
Lunch: Enjoy a meal at a local cafe like The Old Storehouse Café.
Afternoon: Return to Alness, drop off your campervan, and reminisce about your Black Isle adventure.
